SMPP
WEBTEXT runs a global network of SMSC ( Short Message Service Centers), the native messaging protocol used to connect to the SMSC is SMPP (Short Message Peer-to Peer). This protocol allows 2-way communications from 3rd party applications such as campaign managers ( e.g. AAEP, Acqueon LCM etc). Connects are established over “binds” with all connections established outbound from the Enterprise application. Encryption is provided using TLS 1.2
SMPP is most often implemented over TCP/IP. While there are a few variants of the SMPP standard, v3.4 is generally accepted as the industry norm, and is the version supported by WEBTEXT at this time.
HTTPS
Leverage the power of messaging from within your own applications using our HTTPS API’s. All our HTTPS API’s are secure and available over TLS1.2. HTTPS is ideal for use in situations where your applications do not have access to an SMPP client. By exposing a web service to WEBTEXT, you can use HTTPS to achieve 2 way messaging.
When a text message is received from a cell phone user, addressed to one of your SMS-enabled numbers, Webtext can pass this message to a URL you specify. The message will result in a call to this URL, with parameters added as required.
Number lookup / scrubbing
Available via HTTPS (TLS 1.2) this facility allows you to check your contacts database to see if phone numbers are in fact mobile numbers or not. This can be used along side real-time sending APIs before sending messages e.g. Call Deflection.
Campaign Management
MCM exposes a robust API which can be leveraged by development teams to harness the complete power and utility of the Campaign Manager.
MCM APIs can be used to execute all of the functionality presented within the customer facing application.
Using the APIs, MCM’s 3 core components of Campaigns, Contacts and Flows can all be utilised in any way possible, providing exceptional flexibility to development teams.
With access to the API, developers are able to construct custom interfaces and experiences as well as integrate with and expand the abilities of their own, existing, business systems.
